Carbon Chemistry and Microbiology of Permafrost Soils

Characterizes the carbon chemistry, microbial communities, and their function in surface and permafrost soils from throughout interior Alaska. This project is in close collaboration with Jennifer Harden's Fate of Carbon in Alaskan Landscapes (FOCAL) work to understand the interaction between climate, disturbance, vegetation, and carbon storage on the landscape.
