Chukchi Acoustic Project

The objective of this project was to develop a strategy for hydro-acoustic monitoring in the Chukchi Sea. A workshop was convened among key stakeholders with participation from industry, Alaska Native organizations, North Slope Borough, State of Alaska, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Fisheries, academic and private research entities and BOEM.

The workshop was held Feb 9-10, 2009 to: Briefly review acoustic monitoring studies in the Alaska Arctic and determine priority research objectives for acoustic monitoring of natural and anthropogenic underwater noise in the Chukchi Sea from the perspective of marine ecosystems and marine mammals.
