Caribou Monitoring Study for the Alpine Satellite Development Program, 2017

The caribou monitoring study for the Alpine Satellite Development Program (ASDP) is being conducted on the Arctic Coastal Plain in the northeastern portion of the National Petroleum Reserve - Alaska (NPRA) and the adjacent Colville River delta. Barren-ground caribou of the Teshekpuk and Central Arctic herds use this general area. This study seeks to understand caribou movements and distribution in and around the ASDP area and infrastructure with the intent of drawing on both scientific and local/traditional knowledge. Results from the mid 1970's through 2017 are presented.
