NSSI Lakes Data: Mapping Winter Liquid Water Availability in Lakes on the North Slope Coastal Plain of Alaska Using Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR)

Mapping%20winter%20liquid%20water UAF Geographic Information Network of Alaska (UAF GINA) - Shapefiles and Report The North Slope coastal plain represents a unique landscape that is characterized by permafrost and an immense number of freshwater lakes of varying sizes and depths. These lakes provide habitat for fish and wildlife species, support subsistence resources for use by local populations, and serve as freshwater supply for industrial development. The ability of resource...

Assessment of Habitat Use and Population Status of Yellow-billed and Pacific Loons within the Fish Creek Watershed NPR-A

US Bureau of Land Management (BLM) - This project was designed to allow evaluation of the population status and habitat use of yellow-billed and Pacific loons in the Fish Creek watershed via aerial surveys and is modeled on a study conducted by the NPS on the Seward Peninsula and Cape Krusenstern in 2011 and 2013. The NPS – Western Alaska Parklands and the Arctic LCC are partnering with BLM on this project.

Mapping Winter Liquid Water Availability (R2) for Lakes on the North Slope Coastal Plain of Alaska Using Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR)

Michigan Tech Research Institute (MTRI) - Reports: Timeseries, modeling, PALSAR This record provides a time series investigation of North Slope lakes within a small pilot study area to illustrate the observed changes in ERS-2 synthetic aperture radar (SAR) response and lake condition over time. An investigation of PALSAR radar dynamics for two example lakes is also provided. A review of the mechanisms of radar backscatter and...
