Caribou Monitoring for Bear Tooth Unit, 2019
The caribou monitoring study for the Bear Tooth Unit (BTU) area was conducted on the Arctic Coastal Plain of northern Alaska in the northeastern portion of the National Petroleum Reserve–Alaska. This region is used primarily by one herd of barren-ground caribou (Rangifer tarandus granti)—the Teshekpuk Caribou Herd (TCH), although some animals from the Central Arctic Herd (CAH) may use the area in some years.
