2018 Avian Studies for the Alpine Satellite Development and Willow Project Areas CPAI:Research Reports

Alpine Satellite Development:This report presents the results of avian surveys that were conducted on the Colville River delta in 2018 along with summaries of prior years. The focal taxa were Spectacled Eider, King Eider, Tundra Swan, geese, and Yellow-billed Loon. These 5 taxa were selected in consultation with resource agencies and North Slope communities because of 1) threatened or sensitive status 2) indications of declining populations 3) restricted breeding range 4) importance to subsistence hunting or 5) concern by regulatory agencies regarding development impacts.

A link is provided below for prior avian studies in this area.

Willow: This report presents results of eider and loon surveys in the Willow area during aerial surveys. Gull nests were recorded incidentally during aerial surveys. Habitat mapping and analysis was conducted.
